Difference between Gold and Gold-Plated Jewels
The gold-plated jewels are made of either 925 sterling silver or steel and immediately submerged in gold, creating a coating on the surface. With the passage of time, the possible friction of jewelry on surfaces or its contact with water or chemicals, it will slowly be deteriorated and the peel of added gold will be removed from above. However, there is no cause for concern, as gold coating of jewelry is possible again.
On the other hand, gold jewelry has exactly the same composition everywhere and therefore, in the long run its color will not be altered. The only possible deterioration is scratches.
